BUSINESS CONTINUITY
Continuity is the agreement about what continues — and what is allowed to stop.
The situation
Continuity work often produces an impressive set of plans that nobody has used and few people have read.
Meanwhile the organisation has never agreed which activities genuinely matter first, so in a real disruption every function assumes it is the priority and the decision is made by whoever escalates loudest.
The question
What must continue when something fails — and in which order?
The work
We identify critical activities with the business rather than for it, and trace the dependencies that keep them running: people, suppliers, systems, premises, data, third parties behind third parties.
Continuity strategies are then chosen deliberately, with the cost of each option visible, and written so that someone under pressure can follow them at short notice.
Finally we exercise: not a walkthrough of the document, but a rehearsal of the decisions, including the ones the plan does not cover.
The outcome
A shared, tested understanding of what continues, who decides and what the organisation can live without for a while.
